As of January 2020, approximately one dozen states and territories have adopted the 2018 International Residential Code (IRC). The IRC covers all components of a house or townhouse, including structural components, fireplaces and chimneys, thermal insulation, mechanical systems, fuel gas systems, plumbing systems and electrical systems. This course highlights primarily the structural provisions contained in Chapters 1 through 8 of the 2018 International Residential Code, and is designed to help architects and engineers become familiar with the latest building code requirements. The course materials are based on the 2018 IRC Chapters 1 to 8. Detailed answers to some of the frequently asked questions are also provided, including the significant changes from the 2012 edition. This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of course materials.
