Admixtures in Geotechnical Construction (1-Hour Live Webinar)

Caroline Talbot, Ph.D., P.E., FACI

Admixtures can provide significant performance benefits as well as potential cost savings to the cementitious materials used in Geotechnical Construction. This presentation will cover the range of admixtures that could be potentially implemented, which include plasticizers and superplasticizers, set retarders and hydration control agents, anti washout admixtures, and set accelerators. These admixtures can be added to the low water cement ratio grouts for micropiles and tiebacks, in the high water cement ratio grouts used for soil mixing and jet grouting, in the grouts for CFA Piles and Rigid Inclusions, as well as in concrete used for shotcreting. When used properly they can decrease site costs, facilitate grouting in hot weather, increase the strength and durability of the final product, allow grouts and concretes to remain open for hours to days and allow for rapid setting of shotcrete when applying it to low standup time or overhead surfaces.

Keller North America provides a wide range of geotechnical engineering and construction services to improve soils in-place and to both construct new and rehabilitate foundations. The techniques that will be discussed include Compaction & Jet Grouting, Embankment Stabilization & Excavation Support, Vibro Compaction & Replacement, Micropiles and Pile Driving. Within our range of services, a Ground Modification solution is generally available for the toughest subsurface conditions.
