Engineers, architects, and land surveyors play a vital role before, during, and after disasters. In this webinar, we will discuss various types of natural hazards, explore disaster data and trends, and examine each stage of the disaster life cycle. In particular, we will study the damages caused by Hurricanes Katina and Sandy, describe the important new features of the overall defense line that now encircles greater New Orleans, and discuss how to protect New York City and surrounding areas against future hurricanes. This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of course materials.
