The course will explore the actual experiences that the author encountered during his 60 years sales and engineering experienced working in the discipline of Process Controls. You can search the Internet and find the histories on almost anything including instruments, controls and automation but you may not find it as interesting and condensed as is this course. It will inform you about origins of process control devices and systems. Several cases will be revolutionary for a process system itself. The history will cover a span of 1800-2020; my experience began in 1956 when control devices were primarily pneumatic. The history will cover primary instruments [those not requiring a power source (pressure gauges)] and Secondary instruments [those requiring a power source] pneumatic controls (air supply) and electrical power (electro-mechanical, electronic, and computer).
This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
