This four-hour PDH online course discusses the methods for sustainable building design and the values it can provide to architecture, bldg design, bldg envelope, interior functions. It provides guidance for planning & design stages. Energy is considered the most important attribute of a sustainable building. Proper design can reduce energy costs, manufacturing , transportation, construction costs, harmful emissions, and provide many benefits to the environment. It can also improve the life for building occupants and their productivity. The principles discussed in this course are applicable to homes and commercial buildings.
Life cycle guidelines, material reuse and recycling, waste and pollution reduction are discussed. Criteria for the selection of sustainable design teams and owners are also considered. Each step is examined for its environmental impact. Case studies of sustainable designed buildings are provided.
This course is intended for engineers, project managers, designers, planners, building managers and anyone interested in environmental benefits and reducing energy costs.
This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
